Pickerel

I've been bass fishing Lake Varner for a while now and noticed on the front board it identifies all the species in the lake. Among the list I noticed pickerel were on there. I thought about getting up in the morning and trying my luck with them. I was just wondering if roostertails would do the trick. The ones you would use for trout. I have many colors so I figured I might could use those. I would appreciate all replys.

I'm just looking to try something else. Not so much eating, just catch and release.

anything that looks like a minnow, will get hit by a pickeral. Careful, those gill plates CAN be sharp once in a while.

Yes sir...they work great .I would get them in 1/4 or 3/8th ounce models. Mepps comet worked very good as well. The meat is some of the best you can eat..The problem is their hair like bones...The meat is superb. You do get bones in every bite.[X(]
