goldeye

Got out fishing last night at the Red Deer River and landed five and lost three or four and my dad caught 4. I was using a # 1 silver fox spinner with my light action with 6lb test. I had my drag set light so it wasfunfighting them. They are almost like a tarpon when you hook them, astheyperform a series of jumps. There fun on light tackle and are fairly easy to catch. When you find one, theres always more.

RE: goldeye

Thats a good sized Goldeye....... looks about 14-15 inches, maybe a little bigger.have you tried the slip float yet, with a piece of worm? Does the red deer river have cats???? because you could try one of thoseas cut bait for catfish.
Nice catch

RE: goldeye

I would, but theres a no bait rule in the red deer river. Our river has no catfish, but it has pike, sauger, walleye, rock mt whitefish, perch, goldeye, mooneye, rainbows, brown trout, and apparently the odd sturgeon too. So far ive caught a whitefish, a wallye and a few goldeye. Hoping one of these days ill get me a big pike. One of my brothers lost a nice pike a couple weeks ago, because he never brought a net with him.
