Lake Trout
![]() caught my first lakerlast Monday in Yellowstone Lake on a guided trip. 22" long and between 3 or 4 lbs. (didn't have my scale with me). not a big laker but im happy with it. We had it for lunch and it was actually pretty good eating. the meat was dark orange and tasty:Dluckily there were no problem bears, although a week before we cametherewas a grizzly in the same campground. ill post somemore photos of the trip l8ter |

RE: Lake Trout
Congrats, young feller... That's a nice trout...He's certainly fat and well fed...Pretty fish...
Lakers are excellent eating... Better than rainbows or browns IMHO, although not as good as brookies... Around here lakers from the Great Lakes and Finger Lakes have a reputation of being strong (fishy)...The key is in caring for them after you catch them...Kill them promptlyand put them right on ice as soon as they are caughtand they are excellent...Let them lie in the bottom of the boat or put them on a stringer or in a livewell in surface temp water for a couple of hours and let them warm up, and they'll be soft and fishy tasting... |
