explain the pan-fried trout. I've never fixed any trout that were any good. I bet you know something I dont
Are you joking? I have eaten rainbow, brook, splake, and lake trout. I have yet to get a bad one..Like Chuck I pan fry them except for lake trout which I grill. I like to mix flower with some corn meal salt and pepper to roll the trout in before frying. I also like to fry my brook trout at times in bacon fat to have them for breakfast with eggs... Lake trout is strickly grilling though on accasion I will filet and roll in shake-en bake and cook in the oven...

thanks chuck. maybe thats the problem. All I have ever eaten is lake trout. Only one trout stream around here that I know of and unless you go right when they stock it, its not very good. And then people are pretty much standing shoulder to shoulder and that is not my kind of fishing

Kyle,
Our trout streams in Maryland were like that.."Shoulder to shoulder" .I only caught around 25 total.in my whole life..But those fish don't need much to make them good.I'd simply dust them with flour../ salt and pepperand pan fry on medium .You may need to partially cover them to get them cooked through real good.I've never eatten lake trout... For me, you can't beat freshwater trout.

I've eaten more than my fair share of Lakers, and I've never had any that taste bad. I've cooked them all different ways too.
