Post your jon boat ideas here...please

I was tired of the short bow....too short for my tackle box.
I needed space for my life jackets and odds and ends
I needed to beef up the back seat.

Nice job you have been doing Chuck..! That rig would have been great in around that old railroad bed. With 3 -4 inches of water going over it, it would have been easy to get out and slide it across...

Thanks fellows,
I had Aaron working with me..turining the wrenches and snapping the chalk line etc.
Tomorrow I'm going fishin for a spell. Yes sir, I'd love to fish in the old railroad water.

I was thinking live well all day.
I've got a large cooler that is aerated but I was also thinking a permanent live well today as well. I've looked at some other jon boat conversions and what they do is actually cut out the entire middle of the boat and start from scratch. They build the live well first and then work from there. If they made a cooler narrow enough ..one could cut the entire bench open, drop the cooler in the bench and build a solid but hinged seat above the cooler. if you use Shoe Goo to glue a pump in a cooler..it will never come loose. Today I screwed down an aluminum 36 inch ruler on my bow.It won't rust because it's aluminum. We have a lot of slot limit fish around here and it makes it easier.
Another thing..I may get a depth finder. This time instead of clamping it around the trolling motor I can screw it in to the back of the boat about 2 inches from the bottom. When weight is applied ot the boat she will then be in the water. The transducer wire will be alot more safer that way.
I love my little 10 footer. This morning I went to a tight spot. I emptied my boat and slid her right down a hill. I only used my trolling motor . When I was finished I simply winched it back up the hill.
God bless,

that looks good chuck
put a livewell in like a middle seat, at one time atwood or some other aftermarket boats part company made a kit, they were pretty slick, but it wasn't anything you couldn't come up with, just lines fittings, valves and a good pump

Thanks brother Keith,
Also, Walmart carrys a device that plugs into a cigerette lighter..It converts to 15 amps of AC power. I tried it out and it does work. I was worried how fast it may drain my battery so I took it back...It was 17.00 and sold in the automobile department.
PS I do miss the ole depth finder and plan to get one real soon
Got to get ready for the July tourny.

nice little boat there, I would like to have something about that size but cant because a boat of that size would only make a good wake board for my 6' 8" butt. I'll have to post a pic of my latest boat since I let my dad take over on my other boat that I couldnt afford anymore.
