What is your favorite worm brand? I like power worms, but strike king is good too. Not sure which way to go this year.
What do you like to use? |

Gambler, cool. Never used them. Any particular reason you choose this brand?
Thanks |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
Yum Ribbontail
![]() The Yum Ribbon Tail is the top pick of many pro bass anglers, like Bill Dance. Yum’s Ribbon tail soft baits feature a long action packed tail, that send big bass into a feeding frenzy! Fish them almost any way you’d like, if your tossing them toward fish, your going to catch fish! [/align] |

Thanks Yes sir.. Good price 20 for 3. 49 super soft material pre scented fish hang on. nice casting worm...stays put on the hook. I love Christmas Tree color the best. Grape with green and red glitter Bullet sinker snugs up nicely against worm..doesn't turn side ways Ribbon tail is very lively so it's always showing action Softest worm I've found on the market...my main reason easier hook sets;) NOte* The worms on the quilt are Christmas Tree color..see the sparkle .Those are packs of 6" 7" 10" |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
My favorite is actually the Northland Slurppies. They are a great 5" worm.

RE: Favorite worm brand?
All good reasone Chuck. Hook set is very important. With so many on the market I wasn't sure which way to go. I guess all of them could be effective, but if being able to hook the bass is easier than other brands then that would be a significant factor in making a decision.
I've heard Strike King is good, and I guess they get a good rap due to being overly impregnated with salt. In the end I guess it really matters if you can actually LAND the fish though. I'm going to order some online. Maybe basspro.com will have some. Thanks!! |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
Yum, Gambler and Kalens for me.

Good deal..I was able to pull up the site at school. My 2nd choice would be Zoom ...not quite as soft as Gambler but very availale since Walmart carrys them. Lot's of different colors too. My favorite Zoom worm color is red shad... A worm I used ot use alot but can't find anywhere is the Wood Worm..extremely soft..like Gambler |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
Chuck, another questioin: do you like the flappin' tail or the ribbon tail worms? Do you have a preference?
Thanks |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
6 " Ribbon partner ..last week I had over 40 hits honestly.
I'll go to a 10" ribbon when Carolinina rigging this summer in hot weather in deep water.. |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
Cool, thanks. They didn't have 6" on the website, so I went with 7".
Heck, what's one inch?! Ha ha |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
culprit tomato worm
|
RE: Favorite worm brand?
I don't really have a favorite brand or style. I think I have at least one of every kind, YUM, Zoom, Powerbait, Strike King, Gambler, and several locally made, hand-poured varieties. Color and tail actionare themost important things to me. This is my soft plastic box for bass.

RE: Favorite worm brand?
zoom, v&m, chompers, and zippers, and some hand poured
|
RE: Favorite worm brand?
Keith,
Arre Gamblers available in your area ? Have you ever tied them before? c7 |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
yes sir, they are a great worm and great products, and i love the gambler screw in weights, back when i was buying a lot of plastics i also bought culprit, but i get my best deals on zoom and v&m;), i also like the chompers, talk about loaded up with salt, and the zippers, i like the zipper if its a tough bite, the fish really really hang on to them, don't see them much anymore around here[&o]

Thanks Chuck! I'm not very aware of how the moon phase affects fishing. Is it just before full moon or few days before and after that fish are active?

Sir, I've been fishing for a long time. An old timer who mentored me in Florida used to cut the kunar times ou tof teh paper. Everyday he would tell me when the fish would bite. The week before the full moon is generally the best. however; the spawn is usually decent nearly all month. When the moon is full the fish generally slow way down. This was demonstrated by underater cameras on the video Bigmouth Forever. During th efull moon it showed bass wedging between rocks to stay balanced. They were ignoring hundreds of unhooked shiners. |

If ya ever get those fishing maps...the week prior to the full moon is usually awesome. I have tested it out in my own fishing ...and it appears to be true. |
RE: Favorite worm brand?
Sounds good to me. I am pumped!
Thanks for all the info everybody!! |
