Lighting rod problems!

Im use to fishing with porcelain rod tips but recently noticed on the new lightning rods, the brass or aluminum rod tips have been getting grooves rubbed into them from the line. After only one season. Anyone else have this problem with the metal eyes?

Just wondering if you are using mono or a different type of line like spiderwire?

I just checked mine and it also has the brass rings. I don't have any visible wear but I picked it up at the end of last season so it doesn't have much use yet. I will definetly keep an eye on it though and let you know if that changes.

I am a Lightening Rod fanatic..I've never had a problem with them except I broke one once....

The only thing I don't like about them is the short butt part ot the rod...so I bought a Team Diawa this year for the 12" of corked butt. Other than that for the money...you can't beat a Lightening Rod.

I was always a lightning rod fan until I decided to pay a little extra and get ahigerqualityrod. You really don't understand the advantages of a good rod until you try one. Don't get me wrong, Lightning rods are decent rods for the money but like I said after trying a rod made from a high modulus graphite I will never go back. I guess its back to the ol' saying. You get what you pay for!!! Just my .02.
