BPS Reels vs Gander Mtn Reels

I went to Bass Pro with a friend of mine tonight to look for some inexpensive spinning reels. He was looking at the Bass Pro brand and I was curious what your thoughts are compared to the Gander mountain line. From what I can see the Gander line(Guide Series) seemed to be much better constructed and were the same prices. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have 4 of the Gander Mt guide series reels which cost about 30 each. I used them all winter on some of my perch ice rods and am pleased to say they worked great. I was really impressed with the smoothness and lack of reel fall back when you set the hook. Cheaper reels have a give to them when the barrellashes back at hookset. These medium sized reels are rock solid and I like the shape of the reel handles which are kind of triangular shaped and real easy to grab. Ordinarily I use Shimano on all my summer rods and feel the Gander Guide series is just as good.

I haven't tried any Gander Mountain reels, nearest one is 50 miles away, but I do have a BPS branded Metal Extreme spinning reel and love it. I've fished with it for several years now and it has stood up to some serious workouts. I have it strung with 14 lb mono and use it for catfish, it has performed flawlessly.
