Who influenced you to start fishing.

RE: Who influenced you to start fishing.
well my dad never really cared that much for hunting or fishing, but my grandfather and one of my uncles stayed in the outdoors, but i started much like motor, i would take a small piece of line and the smallest hooks i could get, we lived within walking distance to the flint river, when i was a kid i stayed in the woods or on the river. i would take old stale bread and try to catch bream, well i could see that the bream would hit the bread and bust it loose from the hooks and they'd get a free meal, then i discovered using little stips of bacon, anywhere a pipeline or bridge crossing was i fish all around the pillings, it was a lot of fun, and 90% of the time i went by myself, when i was 14 i saved up grass cutting money and bought a 12 flatbottom, i bought a 12v trolling motor and a battery and me and my best friend would drag that thing to the river or have one of our folks drop us off and pick us up down stream 6-8 hours later, the things we got into would make an interesting story, at 16 i stepped up and got a 16 foot crestliner with a 25hp evinrude, then a basstraker, then several glass boats since then, my uncle introduced me to real bass fishing when i was around 14, then i had a man that used to fish for a living turn me onto serious tournament fishing, when i first started fishing with him i'd ask him if he'd like to go cat-fishing or crappie fishing and he would always just tell me "anytime i'm on the water i am looking for bass, fishing a tournament, or practicing for a tournament" well within two years i was him, now i am slowly going back to fishing for more than just bass, but i tell you once you get tournaments in your blood its hard to shake it, but with my grandson showing some intrest in fishing i figure its time to get back to my roots and go for fun

My Dad, I was so young I don't even remember the my age. Have been fishing (and Loving it) ever since. My wife and I had our first child last may(a girl) and we took here out on the boat when she was just 2 weeks old. Its tough finding a life jacket that small, but at least I got her started.

My Father and Great Uncle Tony who was the best fisherman I ever met. Some of my happiest times were taking Great Uncle fishing after he got older. Both are gone now but I think of them often.
