My main lure for smallies are fairly small hair jigs in brown or black...I fish UL spinning gear with 4 lb. test line and use jigs in the 1/16 to 1/8 oz. range...I tie the jigs myself ....

Another universal smallmouth lure is a 3" or 4" curly tail grub ( like a Mr. Twister) on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz. jighead... Many colors will work, but day in and day out it's tough to beat neutral colors like motor oil or pumpkinseed..

On the rivers here in Indiana I like tubes, black and blue jigs, and spider grubs either in the watermelon red color or black and blue.

Here in mn I use a smaller floating rapala about 3-4 inches. I fish it right up around logs, rocks , and feeder streams. My second favorite is a lead head jig with a bubble gum pink mister twister tail usually a 3''. also great for northerns and walleyes!!

Once summer hits, my number one lure on any river is the Rebel Wee Craw. Number two is a Marabou Muddler.

I've always had very good luck with anything in Crawdad or Lizard in spring, early summer.I suppose the shad or crawdad crank baits would be good in summer.Never fished smallies in summer months.

My favorite around pea gravel or rip rap is a 1/8 - 3/8 oz flared spider type jig tipped with pork.

I used this on 2 trips to Ark in gin clear water.

Tube baits, twister tails fished on jig heads, and senkos on a weighted hook. Swim baits and drop shot rigs during the dog days of summer. Most fun are top water right off my dock in the evenings.
