i have a 14ft aluminum boat and i found a 17.5 thrust trolling motor for pretty cheap will that push my boat very well or not....im new to the whole boating thing so i really dont know **** any help would be appreciated

17.5 pound thrust should do fine on your 14 footer.

I would get 1 alittle bigger than that 17.5 It will pull it but not fast enough for me. I have a28 thrust on my little water scamp and i wouldn't go much smaller than that on it. IMO

Go with the original minn kota endura 28 lbs thrust. Still in a very adequate price range.

I have a 10 foot alumiweld with a 28 pound...I've also had the 48 and 17. Your main deal is having a good battery. You will be in serious trouble with any wind. For fishing small bodies of water you may be fine. I got my 28 pound Minncota for 246.00 from Walmart. Just keep that ole paddle in the boat.;)I was out once and broke the prop right off. Also , if fishing line wraps around the propeller shaft it will drain your battery real fast as well as slow your motor way down. I keep and extra wing nut and propeller with me.

As many have said, that is a pretty small motor. Much depends on how far from the ramp you want to fish. When I had a 14' I had a 50 lb on the front and a 54 on the rear. I wasn't the fastest boat on the lake but I could USUALLY fight the wind. Our local pawn shops have used TMs all the time and they always negotiate the price. Good Luck.

I have a similar boat and i tried the trolling motor but the batteries kept dieing and I would end up rowing. So i found it easier to row with out the extra weight of the trolling motor and batteries and left them home. A good set of oars is cheaper then a trolling motor and work fine if you don't have to go very far.
