i read in fur fish and game mag. that a streamer is a good early season trout fly...and it will catch bass too...i was thinkin...what can be better...i will only hit trout streams maybe 5-6 times this year if im lucky...but i bass fish weekly after about june...so these flys will be good for me...what are some good paterns you use and are effective for trout?? im in the NE USA if that helps...is there a site i can see the fly on that you kno of?? if not i can search for it if you give me the name..i got books and some sites...

Although technically not a "streamer":
For early season trout here in the NE as far as streamers go.......start with a Black Wooly Bugger. That's my #1 "go-to" trout streamer in the early season.
You can fish it as a streamer with strips, or jerks, or dead drift like a nymph. Hang on because those big stockies love em'!

Size #8-10 &12 will be fine on a 2 or 3X streamer hook.
A little Black Crystal Flash mixed into the tail is deadly.

There's tons of other streamers that will work, but I find the hinges on a box full of different sized and color Wooly Buggers get a work out year in and year out!!......PS. They work great for bass too!

Tie some weighted, some HEAVILY weighted, and some unweighted......all will have a different action and can be fished with split shot on the leader as well to help get them down.
If your not near the bottom, your missing most of your fish.

ok...thanks again....i just hope after tying all these flys my dad wants to trout fish streams more!! i cant wait to catch my first trout on a fly!!and i kno i got a few flys that can do it already..i just need about 6 more boxes to hold em all!! lol
