Default First ice!

Well we were up Archery hunting here in MN the last few days. We hunt around this small lake that is just loaded with panfish. It was froze over so I had to check it out. Took the hatchet down there and wouldnt ya know it 2-3 inches of ice. Back to the camper i go dig up some line and a hook. Grab a can ofcorn. I am fishing!. Caught about 25 kept 8 and had fresh sunnies at deer camp!

The lake I lived on skimed over 3 days ago. So far 150 yard from shore ice is 3" thick. From 100 yards out I assume is 1/2" because the east half just skimmed over. Monday Im gonna do some ice fishing. Plus its black ice!

I have a cottage in Kenosha county on a lake. I went up today to visit and the bulk of the lake is skimmed over. It is 12 degrees out right now so I am really hoping that I might be able to get out next weekend. Temps are supposed to be below freezing all week.

Walked out a few feet this morning and the ice was about 1.5" thick. Was fully expecting to fall through but it felt solid. A huge section of open was was visible lastnight but frozen over this morning. Should be able to get out and fish this weekend!
