Last year I was turkey hunting down in Missouri. The land owners invited us over to the place for dinner and to do some fishing on their farm pond. We were killing the crappies when he mentioned there were some big bass in the pond. At that instant, I put a buzzbait on my line and started walking along the edge of the pond. After a few casts, I pulled in a 8 and a quarter pound largemouth. I also got my first turkey that day. That's about as good of a day as they come.

either he didnt weigh him...or he used one of those goofy cheapo dollar general spring loaded scales...17 inch = 3-3.25lbs in almost every region of the world and thats a generous estimate.

about 7 pounds was like 17 inches long
that fish would have to have a 24" + girth to make 7 pounds

now that would be a "football"

My personal best largemouthwas 8.5#s out of the stock pond near our house. The next day, I caught a 9 #er. I was only about 10 or 11 at the time, and I haven't broken that record yet.

The stock pond went dry in 1983, and we drained it and deepened it. We seined the fish out before we drained it. There were over a dozen fish in it weighing over 12#s, and one weighed 17.6#.
