Artificial Lure

I went to the lake on monday and was havin a really slow fishin day. I decided to toss out a topwater lure and on the third cast caught a small LMB. I was pretty excited, because it was the first time I've ever caught a fish on an artificial lure.

Good for you. It was small but great for a first with artificial lures. I hope you get many more and experiment with different lures. Most will work given the right circumstances.

you should be ashamed using that big ole bait and knokin that fish out

J/K man its always fun too catch'em regardless of the size, the bigger they get the more fun, and there is nothing that'll build your confidence quicker than actually catching a few on a particular bait, BTW up top is probably the most fun way to catch them;), stay after'em the will get bigger;)

Amen to that. And they are usually the bigger fish.

Good for you, it is always fun to catch a few fish and size doesn't really
matter as long as you have fun doing it.

I've been bass fishing with artificial lures most of my life, caught many bass, but I've honestly never caught anything fishing on top. Nice fish.

good job!! poppers can be KILLERS for bass. fish them around good cover. brush/log piles...weed beds etc...kinda gota tinker around to see what they want..sometimes they will hit them when you are pulling it with all you got and splashing feet of water. other times you just barely have to move it. i love popper fishing. alot of times you can watch the fish come up and investigate. when i can see them ill just ever so slightly twitch it. they usually smash it after that.

Go EARLY in the morning or LATE in the evening.
If it's still dark, throw a black buzz bait. If daylight, use a white buzz bait.

Poppers are ok, personally if it's summer time and I want bass by top water I go a little different route. I will use a modified buzz bait, and a Zara Spook. They both work wonders here for bass and pike!
