chargin deep cycle
 

Hey im going fishin/camping for the weekend and will be using my 105 ah deep cycle battery with my trolling motor, I wont be able to charge it for about 36-40 hours after i use it, Will it be okay?

side note, Im gonna be chumming this lake for kokanee (sockeye salmon) and will be using nightcrawlers, using light tackle, 6lb test line, hook, nightcrawler. you think this will get it done. I know there are good amounts of fish in there.

I would try not to run it down below 75% charge if you have to wait that long to get it on a charger. You won't ruin your battery but you can shorten the useful life by running them down too low and waiting too long to recharge. sorry no help here, mine get charged asap, the way i was always instructed to treat a deep cycle battery, when you first get it charge it completely, the completey discharge it, charge immediatly and repeat this a few times, the batteries will develop memory from what i've been told, short cycles on chargers will give shorter duration (ah), i have never strayed from this practice, but i still end up buying trolling motor batteries every other year to year and a half, but that is some pretty serious charge and discharge = lotsa fishin;):D

i have heard of people camping taking two car batteries run one all day, when you get back to camp put the dead /low batt in the car and jump it off with the hot battery do a little running around, use the other for next day, make sure someone near where your camping has some jumper cables, or take a vehichle with a munual tranny;)

I usually fish about once a week ..maybe twice. I'm lazy and leave it in a hidden storage I made for my battery right in the boat. The night before I need it I put it on trickle charge. I was told though to ONLY use distilled water.which I will .Anyway my 60.00 yellow battery from Walart gives me about 16 months. Then I just simply switch it free for anew one.No questions asked. I usually buy an 18 month free replacement battery.

I have a 12V trolling motor on my bass boat and usually switch batterys every 2-3 years. I fish pretty much every day for a few hours to 4 or more all summer and run the battery for 2 -3 days then recharge over night. No problems with the way I do it.

side note, limited on the lake in an hour, went back to the campsite dropped the rainbows dredged in flour in some hot oil= good eatin!

I often don't charge them for several days and never have a problem. The memory problem is not as bad as it was a few years back. They are pretty forgiving.
