amount of ice ?
 
I havent went icefishing since i was 4 years old and want to start out again, i have all the gear i need and then some, but i dint know how much ice i need to have on the lake. i weigh 220 and was wondering how much ice there should be before i start fishing?

I've been on 4 inches before but would rather be on 6 inches or better

3-4" of "good" ice is all you need to walk on

Like TeeJay said 3-4" is good to walk on, 6-8 is good for an ATV and I like about 12 or moreto go on it with my truck

150lbs here...3" in the absolute minimum I'll step out on.

There has been alot of bad ice here this year with alot of people getting wet so I'm sticking with six inches. On a normal year six inches of good ice has held a small pick-up truck but I don't think it would be wise this year. At least not up here.
