ice fishin...

hey, i havn't gotten the chance to go ice fishin yet this year and it's kind of bringing me dow...we havn't got enough ice to safely get around but we just got a cold spell and when i woke up this moring the thermometer was poushin -8 so i should get out on thur. or fri.

i'm looking for panfish and pike, now i've pretty much got the pike techniques down but the crappie havn't had any trouble at all in avoiding me...those skimpy little buggers! does any 1 out there want to share any secrets?

RE: ice fishin...

I have done well in the past (havent fish craps threw the ice in a few years) on small jigs tiped with waxies, yah vary simple. The biggest thing is finding them, they will be in schools, so if you get one there is a good chance you will get a few more.Your bestchance is totalk to someone who has been out and did well.

One thing I have learned about ice fishing is don't always fish on bottom, mix it up alittle. I have caughtpan fish 2feet under the ice aftera day of fishing them on bottom. I think some times they find pits of food in the ice, but I could just be making that up :).

Good luck, and dont forget thehot coffee.
