noodling for fish?
 

have any of you tried this (at least thats what they call it around here. where you stick your hand in hole feeling for big cats turing spawning season? if so how do you go about it. i know this sounds crazy for those who have naver dont it but my uncle came back with 5 20-30 pounders last year and some smaller ones when he went with his two sons.
i would ask my uncle but he doesnt live close and i beign the wonderful close nephew i am dont even have his number. we dont see much of each otther, but thats another story. now im wanting info on how to do it. and also how to not have a snapper bite your fingures off

There are some people down here that do it. They call it logging, some of them have came back with some pretty large cats. I'm not sure how they really go about it, but I think you just walk around shallow water in a creek and stick your hands down in holes or by logs.

Turtles tend to go headfirst into holes, so you can grab them from behind without getting bit. Big catfish like to go in sunken hollow logs. You can plug up one end and grab them in the other. I've done this a time or two, but not very successfully. Whiskey playeda major role in my decision making at the time. if you are interested in the practice, check out the documentary "Anything I Catch." You will see guys who were completely submerged breaking the surface while holding on to an enormous turtle.

The other issue is if the hole is big enough for them to turn around in.

Yeah, it helps to be immune to cottonmouth venom as well. And if yer doing that in the ole miss or a big river, watch out for eels. Basically, if you dont care about using your hands long term, go ahead! And dont forget the booze! I did it once and chickened out. EJ

I have seen it on TV, that stuf is nutz. I would never do that, give me a nice dry boat and a rod and I am set.

One thing I would like to do is go free dive spearing in the ocean. Clear, warm water, sounds like fun.

My dad grew up in East Texas and they use to do this. Told my you had to be carefull becouse sometimes you would find a big snake.
