I have always found that one of the hardest things about booking with a new guide or outfitter is worrying about whether or not you will get ripped off. It would be great if we had a source for unbiased opinions on guides/outfitters. If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to share my recommendations on the guides that I've used in the past. Some are good, some are bad. Having a reference shure beats going blind, especially since there are so many to choose from!

welcome tombass, agreed, never hired a fishing guide, but know and worked with a bunch, and fished against a bunch of them too, the guy that won the hunting.net bass contest went with someone i recommended in florida, he caught his biggest bass he has ever landed. treat people right/fair and it will come back for you 10 fold, the only reason i mentioned the guy, i had drawn him in a tournament several years ago and fished against him several times, i know he is a class act and will put you on fish, thats just the kind of guy he is, also never book a trip, hunting or fishing, w/o refrences, goood guides will provide numbers, call a few of em, also remember your dealing with wild animals (most of the time anyway) and things can be cold action wise, if the guide works, remember that accordingly. it won't always be "perfect" but bad represenitives of the hunting and fishing guides should be brought to light
