Crappie are biting in central Florida.
My son and I got some serious slabs yesterday at the Tenoroc Fish Managementin central Florida. We had a few 1 1/2 pound black crappie { Specks}. We drifted in 8 foot of water and enticed them with Missouri minnows. When you soak them in buttermilk it firms the flesh up real good making for some fine eatting.

Guess what...
I learned how to double your bites while fishing for Crappie. Take the bobber off and drift the bottom. Only problem is... you will miss more strikes.I was fishing side by side with a friend .BOth of us drifting in 10 foot of water. I then took my bobber off and got alot more bites. RE: Crappie are biting in central Florida.
I use small light green tubeworms or white twister tails(small - medium). Sassy Shad will get you the big ones, I caught a 17 inch crappie with one. The other ones average around 14 inches. When I fish for crappie(speckled perch), I catch the big ones

Is this like a Beetle Spin with out the blade ?
I've also caught them on Hal Flies , Shad Darts , Grass Shrimp , Rattle Traps , Mepps Comet , Tiny Diving Rebels , and Missouri Minnows. Missouri Minnows will live much longer when hooked through the lips instead of the eyes or back. |
