Some pros are fishing just off my beach and they are catching them

brown fish or green ones;), i bet the small jaws are starting to act right
Brown fish are the main fish near me. I live on the west side of the island facing the New York shore. The broad lake is cold and deep with lots of trout and salmon in the deep water and smallies all along the rocky shore. Lots of 4 pounders hitting right now. I just got my boat out of the shop yesterday and hopefully will get to water test it today and do a little catch and release. The pros in the FLW Everstart series really cleaned up using chartreuse and white spinner baits in 10-15 feet of water. Lots of other guys did well in 20-30 feet using drop shot or Carolina rigs. The winners all brought in 18-21 pound bags every day and most were smallies.

This lake is usually one of the favorites on both the Bass and FLW tours because it is pretty easy to get a limit of 3-4 pound fish. In addition, lots of clubs and federations from out of state hold their tourneys here. The lake is about 120 miles long and chuck full of nice healthy largies and smallies. We seldom catch largemouth above 6 pounds and small mouth above 5 but there are tons of 4 pound fish everywhere. In the spring it is quite common to have 50-100 fish days. The pros come here and you hear them at weigh in say they limited on 5 fish in the first 15- 30 minutes then it was cull time. Anyone who gets a chance to fish north should give it a try. I do some snorkeling at my house and always see some real toads out off the end of the dock. Today was a sad day because I put my boat away for the season and pulled the dock and lift. Bow hunting starts next weekend and I need to get all the stuff done around here so I can go to camp.

Ill probably get out for bass one or two more times this year. I'm done tourney fishing for the year, now im just looking for more sponsors over the off season. we finsished 20 something in points after only fishing 3 of 6 tourneys..we're hoping to make the BWSTA classic next year. overall, a good year, i learned alot about tournament fishing. Taught me a lot about being prepared, and making sure you dont have any problems come tourney day.

Yes and no. I am probably done with regular stream fishing but if it gets cold enough soon enough I will be out on the ice before the new year.

You should try flat fish (bluegills, sunnies and crappie). Lots of action and a real blast on light tackle.Bomoseen, St Catherine and Hortonia are great down closer to you. Northern Champlain is my place for winter fun every day.

Yep, all 3 are good producers. For lakers we usually hit Champlain anywhere from Arnolds Bay up to Button Bay. Have been messing around on Lake George over in New York also. Took some pretty good ones last year.

I used to go steelheading in NY all winter and tip up fish and jig for lakers in Champlain. Started to fish for flats and now that is all I do. Lots of fun.
