What's your favorite baits for smallmouths.

Curly tail grub on a jig head and a suspending jerkbait. I haven't fished for them since the soft plastic flukes came out but would bet they would be good.

Curltail grub in crawfish patterns on 1/8 or 1/16 oz. leadhead.

Bomber Fat Free Fingerling in crawfish or shad style pattern.

3" or 4" YUM Garret Mega Tube or ISG Dream Tube in junebug,black/blue flk, or crawfish colors, 1/8-1/4 oz weight, 2/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook

4" YUM Dinger or ISG Willo Stik wacky rigged. Watermelon for ISG, Pumpkin/Char. for YUM.

I love a 3.5 inch finess tube.

3" Berkley power bait grub(pumpkinseed color)on an 1/8 oz black jighead.

Of course it doesn't get much better than the last hour throwing skitter pops across the glass surface.:D

I hear ya. Those things are deadly on smallmouth, but they run anywhere from 4-5 bucks a dozen here where i live, and half the time the bait stores are out.

I river fish for the smallies beneath a dam, and the best lure for me in this type situation has always been a jointed rapala minnow in crawfish color.
