RE: The drop shot runner
Really depends on your cover. A drop shot is good if you're not looking for a reaction strike. You got to be able to get the bait in front of the fish sometimes that gets difficult with the dropshot. Other small finess type baits could work for you as well. The key is to work it slow. It wouldn't hurt to try.
Good luck. |
RE: The drop shot runner
The cover is a lot of summerged weeds and matted grasses and most of the fish hold in dark spots in open weed patches and out side the weeds oh and there are a lot of tree branches and one whole tree in the water so is that good or what thanks for the help so far

RE: The drop shot runner
If the bass aren't really pressured that hard, I would be more inclined to use a texas style rig. Much easier to use in weedy situations and can be fished a little bit faster than the drop shot. Another good choice would be a tube jig.

RE: The drop shot runner
I like drop shots but it is important to keep contact with the bottom. The set up gives you the ability to fish pocketsin weeds, bridge abutments and ledges in deeper water. I use any short, soft finess bait. The hook arrangement needs to be right so the bait stays exposed. Use a palomar knot and a hook with an upturned eye and a weight that is heavy enough to stay near bottom.
