Best Fishing Line

Hey everyone, this is my first post on the fishing forum, I usually hanging around the hunting forums. I have a really dumb question to ask. It has been about 10 years since I have even been on a lake fishing. My wife and I are leaving for a week to go up to Northern Mn. for a fishing trip to a place where I used to go back then. Anyways, I was wondering what the hot fishing line is these days. We will be doing mostly trolling for Northerns. And if anyone has any ideas to throw out there for a good lure that might work for this time of year. Thanks in advance.

I just loaded a Calcutta with 10lb Iron Silk(Drab Green color). I've been using it for a month now and very impressed with its lack of memory, stretch and long smooth casts.

I don't know what line is the best but my friend, who trools for northers uses heavy lipless crankbaits. I've seen the picks and they are all big. He is fishing in 30ft of water. If your fishing deeper I would use something else.

MAXIMA, best by far. Never fish anything else.

Try spoons for pike, red and white, the ones ya can get for like $2.

Truthfully.. each rod I have is for a different technique.. They all have different pound and brands of line on them. Carolina rig is stren super braid. Senko, plastics, and crankbait rods have Triple Fish Silicone. My finesee has flourocarbon. My flipping rod has stren magnaflex on it.

josh is talking about bass.

I'm pretty much a non-braid guy. I can't find anything that manage well. Power Pro is pretty good, but right now, i've got my rods rigged with differeing strengths of Berkley Trilene XT. Very abrasion resistant. The rest have Trilene Sensation, XL, or Vanish flourocarbon.

for trolling on pike, i'd use braid like Power pro or fireline. Probably 20 lb should do it.
