shoot stuff,
I think the moral to the story is, next time get a pic or citation and post it here.
You must admit a 5lb Bluegill ANY WERE in the U.S. is a phenominal fish to say the least. A 12 lb bass is far and few between especially in states like Ohio. Without pics or a citation to show it can be a hard pill to swallow on the web.
I've released many a citation bass, crappie, bluegill etc thru the years. Taken many pics to prove it. If I caught what I thought was a 5 lb bluegill or 12 lb bass anywhere - I'd take a picture. If no camera, they'd be on my freekin wall after i got a citation!!

I know I for one would love to see a pic of these 16 lb largemouth and 5 lb bluegills. Heck this one I caught was 28" and only weighed 8 1/4. yours must make this one look like a minnow seeing as how they're twice as big.

Caleb,
Technically, no one was there brother. I hope you catch a big one. I missed a 12 pounder in Florida once when I first moved there in 1983.I threw out a 1/4 ounce rooster tail and thought I was hung up on a telephone pole. That fish went side to side. Up to this time my biggest fish was 2 pounds. My line got slack ..and the biggest bucket mouth you ever seen with eyes big as 1/2 dollars spit that lure out. It was a small pit. Not many days past and an old fellow caught I believe that fish on a shiner. Just a little past 12lbs. From here out I keep a rod bending tight line.
The complete fish ws out of the water. In slow motion I went from excitement to severe depression.
Catch us a big one,
Chuck

OK - shoot stuff just admit it - maybe that bass you saw was really a big ole Carp. The 5 lb Blue Gill - well maybe we'll give you that one - but next time post a freekin picture.
