RE: Remington Model 710

Well the bolt lockup in the barrel will control that PSI but the action isn't the smoothest even made of the material it is made of. I understand they are now offering "Metal" recievers for 2005.
Even though the bolt locks into the barrel the chamber is still expanding and causing the receiver ring to expand and contract with it each time the gin is fired. I know that it is pressed in with a good ammount pressure but press fit things tend to wallow out over time with continued movement.

The receiver is not applying pressure in a linear direction like on a threaded barrel but rather in a "crushing" fashon and is only relying on friction to hold it in place.

Had a Rem 788 way back when, hot handload (22-250) stuck in chamber, opened the bolt and hit it with my hand trying to extract cartridge....bolt handle broke off of bolt...just welded on. Sold both of them real quick, other was a 6mm. Good accurate rifles, but that bolt handle was a piece of poop I imagine 710 will have same problem.get a Savage for low priced rifle or a Win Super Shadow Model 70

RE: Remington Model 710

i own one--down in south louisiana it is hard not to ever get your rifle wet(meaning under water) when hunting swamps and when using a pirogue(cajun canoe which is very tippy) mine has been under water-still shoots where you hold it-- i have much more expensive rifles and shot guns and i would be upset when they were submerged--when i have destroyed this one i may opt for another brand of cheap rifle--till then i will use this one while i leave my "good guns " in the safe
