Ithaca Mag 10

I am looking at a Mag 10. Price is around $500 and looks good. I have been told that these guns tend to jam? Any input would help me out. Thanks.

There is a replacement recoil system (or used to, not sure is still made) that solved a lot of the jamming problems.
I don't see many in the marsh any more .
With the new nontoxic shots the need for the 10 is waining.
Have you priced shells ? The loads are not realy any better than the 3 1/2" 12, but cost more $$
IMO buy a 3 1/2 12 ,pump or auto and you will have a more versital gun

Keep an eye on the gun's condition, here is what the Gun Digest says:
w/ vent rib barrel Perfect-$700 Excellent:-$570 Very Good:-$490
w/plain barrel Perfect:-$650 Excellent:-$520 Very Good:-$440
(add about $20 to all if it is the Deluxe version and $150 - $200 for the Supreme version)

As far as the jamming, I am in no place to speak on the issue, know very little about autoloading scatterguns, never really cared for them. Good luck either way.

button, The Ithica's did have a problem with jaming. I had one of the originals and on occasion it did jam. It was no big deal, just a bit frustrating. Remington now produces the mag 10. I purchsed one the first year of issue and Remington seems to have solved the issue. I shot many a round through the gun with no malfunctions. I do very little waterfoul hunting these days, but it work extremely well on turkey.:D

Thanks for the input. I really don't need it. I have an 870 super mag and a bakail mp 153 that both shoot 3 1/2's. Both work great on turkeys.......but I can never have too many shotguns;).

I once owned an Ithaca Mag 10 - 32" full choke back in the days when you could use lead for waterfowl. Never any problems with it but sold it. Later bought a Rem. SP-10, with 28" Rem choke. Again no problems. This was basically the same gun with a few minor changes in the gas system. I sold this one too.
My current waterfowler is a Remington 870 Express Super Mag. 12 ga 3 1/2". It is a work horse of a shotgun.
