Nikon Monarch on a 300 WIn mag or above

Anyone use one of these scopes on a 300 win mag or above. Just interested in problems if any with it. Thanks

All I can say is that I use my Nikon Gold 1.5-6x42mm on my slug gun and haven’t had any problems with it so far. Handles the recoil.

My buddy had one on his .300 Weatherby this season and he had no gripes about it.

oeh I have had a 4x12x44 (or is it a 40? lol my CRS is terminal I tell ya) Nikon on a Ruger 77 7mag that I bought when I was a teenager in the late 80s. That was before Buckmasters and Prostaffs but would be a Monarch now. The scope is still brilliant, has NEVER given me one minutes trouble and holds zero as well as anything else on the market. I would go look right now to make sure what size it is but a younger cousin of mine that lives in another state has had the rifle for two seasons now (comes from a single parent home and he's in college so you know the story...) He just took his biggest deer a couple of weeks ago with a 300yd shot and the deer went down like a sack of rocks. I have dropped many deer with that gun at such ranges over the years. The zero was only changed as I toyed with handloads several years ago. I had some so strong I blew the necks and throats out of the cases yet the scope always held zero!

I have two VariX IIIs (a 4.5x14x50 and 3x10x50) and my old Monarch is clearer IMHO than either of the X IIIs,

I have been curious about that particular scope myself. Thinking of putting one on my model 7 .350 mag. How would you compare it to a leupold?

Terry, I’ve had this question asked a couple of times. I have two Leupold scopes and did make this comparison even with some friends at work. My Leupold scopes are the VXII 3-9x50mm and the Euro 3-9x50mm with the 30mm tube. The Nikon is brighter and clearer then both Leupolds and with a constant 4” of eye relief. The Nikon does weight a little more but is a solid scope. This scope also picks up good light at dusk or dawn. I have no regrets buying this scope.

The funny thing is that this scope is going to be mounted on my T/C 350 Rem. Mag after this deer season. It’s to much of a good scope to be used on my slug gun. Hope this helped out a little.

maybe someone else can confirm this for you because i'm not sure as i have never owned one but i was told by someone who did that these scope have a gear system internally similar to the european scopes.and they have a rock solid zero.
