I have a barska that I picked up used for cheap. I put it on my .22. It's not a complete piece of junk, but its not that great either. Up there with a 40 or 50 tasco I would I say. I haven't had it out in any crappy weather to see if it fogs up or not. I don't know anything about the others you mentioned. The one I have is a 4-16 power with a 50 mm udjustable objective. I wouldn't put it on a .243 that's for sure.

I tell people to search ebay for a used Leupold. Yes they are expensive, but they are very much worth it. The thing with a Leupold is they all have a lifetime warranty. You buy one scope to last you the rest of your life. The resale is also good compared to almost any other brand.

If you sight in a Leupold it will stay that way until you switch to a different ammo. It's comical watching guys with bargain scope sight in every year. When eactly do these scopes lose there zero? I sight in every year but have never found my zero to be off with a Leupold scope. Again, they will cost more but you get what you pay for. You should be able to find one for around $200.00-$250.00 new. Look for a VXII, you don't need to buy the VX-III. Natchez shooting supply usually has some prett good deals. I like ebay because if there is a problem you just send to Leupold and they will fix it.

Other quality scopes are the Zeiss, Swarvoski, the Bushnell elite series, and some of the Burris scopes.

I am a Law Enforcement sniper and have to rely on quality optics. Just about any large department PD sniper team, FBI, or military snipers use the Leupold scopes.

Just remember, "you get what you pay for" There are no big "rip off" manufacturers when it comes to higher end optic.

Hi, Just to add another option. I just ordered a Sightron SII 3-9 X42. I have heard some great things about these, so ordered it sight-unseen. Lifetime warantee and they are supposed to be great for the money. I paid a little under $190.
Just another idea.

The only cheap scopes I buy are for 22 LR. If I were to buy a cheapie because of economics it would have to be one of the Bushnells. I have had good success in the past with the cheaper Bushnells. I like many others have enough cash to purchase better optics and that is what I do.

I only use Leupold scopes on my hunting rifles. Cheaper scopes do not have the 3-5" eye relief of leupold scopes. My uncle learned this lesson last year when he put a top of the line Bushnell on a 7mm-Ultra Mag, while shooting at a buck the scope wrapped him above the eye because of the shorter eye relief. I believe a top quality, accurate gun is only as good as the scope you put on it!!

The bushnell 3200 elites are a great buy for the money. They have enough eye relief for any of the milder cartridges such as the 243 but are marginal for the very large capacity magnums from the .308's and up.I would buy the ziess conquest over the leupold vxiii due to the constant eye relief and superior optics for the same price.

I havn't heard of any of these scopes. There are quite a few scopes that have lifetime protection policies. I just recieved a scope back from Busnell that I dropped on a cement floor still attached to the rifle. I bent the tube. They replaced it for a 10.00 shipping and handling. The scope was thirty years old.
