44 mag. If you dont hand load there are many factory loads that can be found.

I think the 44 mag is a better all around round. It is easier to find factory loads if you are out of town hunting and 44 seems to have a bigger following for hunting.

The 41 mag was designed to split the gap between the 44 mag and the 357 mag. It does that perfectly. If top loads in the 44mag are to much for you, then the 41 may be the ticket, but as mentioned before, its getting to be a hand loaders cartridge. The original thread here said the 40s&w had the same knock down power as the 45acp just less recoil. Do you know what the S&W stands for? SHORT & WEAK. the 45 acp has significantly more knock down power than the 40sw.
