6.8mm Rem. SPC

Anyone have any experience with the new 6.8 Remington SPC?? (Special Purpose Cartridge)

It was made for the AR-15 crowd. You can now buy the uppers for around $350. The advantage is that it shoots a larger bullet from a .223 rifle. (after changing upper. Should make a good deer cartridge. Some are getting 2700 fps out of 18 inch barrel with 115 grain bullet. very flat trajectory also.

I want to get this upper for my Bushmaster. Anyone out there have one??

Sorry, no; but if you get one I am curious how it does for you. Kick the tires first! :-)

Watch the bullets, though. I am not sure they expand for hunting.

Remington is loading this cartridge now and it is offered for sale already. Midway also has the brass. There are several good bullets that can be handloaded in this case.

6.8 mm translates to .270, so there are a good range of bullets that will expand for hunting.

There are 3 or 4 companies that are making this upper. Also, a couple of rifle manufactures are making a bolt gun in this cartridge. A quick search on the web will reveal several good articles.

Here is a good one. http://apollo.demigod.org/~zak/firearms/6.8SPC/faq.php

Edited to add- A couple of the die makers will make a custom set for around $90

Here is another great article on hunting with the new 6.8mm SPC in a CZ rifle.
