RE: remington 710
I made the mistake of buying one of those 2 years ago. I wish I'd known what a turd they were before I bought it. The main problems I have with it are with the bolt. It's not very smooth and if you try to cycle it too fast, it comes out in your hand. Not good for when you need a quick follow up shot. I'm getting a new rifle in a couple of weeks and it won't be a Remington! Now if I could find a good use for my 710...Thinking of using it for a door stop...

I bought a Rem 710 in 30-06 to use as trade goods only. The bolt seems very smooth and the detachable mag is certainly a handy item. I believe that this rifle may be fine in the hands of the budget hunter who goes after local deer and not for a hunter paying a lot for a hunt and going far from home to take a trophy. The M710 is what it is: an inexpensive trade-off in terms of quality and possibly reliability.

Don't buy the 710. it's a waste of money. What a POS!... if you want an inexpensive gun, get a savage. You get a good gun with a very good trigger. The package prices on savage are sometimes cheaper than the 710.

do yourself a favor and don't buy this gun. i don't even know why remington would carry such a peice of sh%#. get a savage package gun if you want a cheap gun+scope. they shoot well and down the road you can put a new scope ontop. or you could buy an adl and be even happier

I havent shot one of these but they do look like crap. If you want a Rem and can swing it...get the adl synthetic. If you dont like the black stock...the regular adl can be had for a close price.

Had the experience of helping a friend sight a 710 in the other day for a beginner hunter. The gun is definately cheap. The stock feels and looks like a toy gun and that molded in trigger guard is ridiculous. I will give the gun credit for one thing though: it grouped well and seemed to like any factory load from 150 grains to, 165's, 180's and even 220's.

What scares me is that Remington is now offering this P.O.S. in mag calibers. I think I'm going for a Ruger this time around. Get something nice to hunt elk with. Leave the 710 at home to drag through the swamps. Maybe I'll get lucky and lose the stupid thing in a deep part of the swamp.
