Savage Law Enforcement .308 report

I recently took delivery of a Savage Model 10, Law Enforcement model .308Win., having the McMillan stock. The rifle now sports a Burris Signature 6-24x40 scope on Leupold mount and rings. In the past, I have been able to test fire the FN police sniper rifle, Remington heavy barrelled varmint model in 308, as well as that style model made by Winchester. I can honestly say that the Savage is right up there with the others. The entire rifle is finished in matt black. The fit is good on all parts. The Accu-trigger has really put Savage over the top, in terms of being user friendly. I like being able to adjust the trigger pull on my own. I have not fired any rifle in .308Win. that is more accurate then this Savage. The only other Savage that I own is Model 12FV in 22-250. That rifle also, has proven to be an excellent choice for accuracy and serviceability. For anyone not needing to have fancy wood and gleaming blue finishes, Savage is the way to go. I would recommend Savage rifles to any gunsports person.

Steven you got to be kidding me? I had the 10fp also and still have a PSS. The savage was the one with the tupperware junk stock. Didn't work out for me. I have a FN SPR A1, and there is no comparison to this savage. The FN is a work of art. I do not have to have any fouling shot with the chrome barrel, and moly bullets. Clean up with the chrome lined barrel is the easiest I have ever seen. It does not copper foul at all.

You almost had to soak that savage for two days with ever copper solvent known to man. When I opened the bolt, the bullets would pop out. The heart of any gun is the action, and a savage action is still just that. I have seen them be tack drivers. The Savage with that stock might be fitted better.

I am just discussing things here. Just opinions. No offense. I have looked at the mcmillian stocked savage. I just went ahead and paid twice as much for SPR. I love the FN action over all others.

But glad your happy with it.

There is a guy selling a 700 PSS .308 with a 26" barrel, not sure if he has it sold or not. If I end up with it I am thinking Nikon Gold 2.5-10x56 and use it for long range deer hunting. What do you think about that rifle? Friend has a sendero in 308 that is the most accurate rifle I believe I have ever seen.

Honestly, I couldn't say. I bought my PSS used. And then went and tried an experiment with fire lapping from Tubb's kit. Man, what a mistake was with that. All the edges of my rifling was gone. So I never really had a chance to give it a fair look. I had the whole thing rebarreled with a Dan Lilja, varmit contour.

According to OneShotoneKill, he works on them all the time. He said after he does a little smithing they all turn out to be top notch guns. But it was like 400 or so dollars of smithing.

Yea, I saw that too on AR. See if he will give ya a evaluation period. And see if he is trustworthy in other posts. I bought a browning off there a few years ago. Worked out well. Guy gave me a 1 week eval.

You told me about it, so I went ahead and got it. Just kidding. I have had great luck and bad luck with used rifles bought over the internet. 3 or 4 of them was better than descriped. 2 or so were very inaccurate, barrels burned out, throats damaged, and crown damaged. And of course they were listed as only one box thru them, and .5" shooter and all.
