Need help with a shotgun
 

What is a good shotgun for under 500 dollars. I know that i dont want a remingto becasue i dont like the 870 express and all that crap, but i was thinking along the lines as a Benelli nova, Stoger 2000, Mosseberg, etc... What is going to be the best one for the money, and will last me a long time, adn kill alot of turkey

I'm not sure what you mean by "870 express and all that crap", I'd consider the 870 express equal to or better than anything Mossburg puts out, but to each their own.

If you can spend in the $500.00 range, you might take a look at the Beretta auto that Walmart sells. It's a no frills auto that quality made and will last you a lifetime of hard use. You'll get a ton of different information. When asked "what to buy" people tend to tell you whatever they own is "the best". Personally I'd stick with something from Benelli, Beretta, Remington, Browning, Mossburg, etc. but avoid most of the Russian and South American made guns. I've seen too many of the cheap guns break from hard use on the trap or skeet ranges. But the average hunter would probably never wear one out.

Since I'm a 12 gauge semi-auto chauvinist, that's what I'll recommend. In the $450.00 range the Beretta 390/3901 like 98' said as well as the Stoger 2000 you mentioned. In the $500.00 range there is the Beretta Pintail/ES100, Franchi 612, and Weatherby SAS. These would all be in black synthetic. I have a lot of experince with the last three. All have been very good without any problems. They are very reliable, Have good quality, and are under priced.

you can find used browning a-5's for that kind of money.they are great and last forever

well if your going turkey hunting, look into the mossberg model 835, its a pump with a 3-1/2" chamber!!!!

I'm also in the market for a new shotgun, and from my research, i am pretty much 99% convinced that the Benelli Nova is the best one out there in that price range.

Mossberg is my choice. But i don't know why you don't like the 870? anyway, the mossberg 500 i have was far under $500 and has worked flawlessly in all situations. I have been in rain, snow, dropped the thing in a swamp etc... never a problem. Very reliable shotgun that will last for a long time. I think it was about $220 new. I would seriously look into that gun. It's alot of value for the money.

Wow i have four 870's and i didnt know they were crap!
as a matter of fact i just picked up a 870 express with a 21" vr a truglo turkey choke and sling set up for $170. it's used and after a little TLC it looks good.
i used to work in pawn shop for my friend part time. i have palyed with alot guns and for the money a 870 can't be beat. if i was going to buy another pump it would be a Browning bps.
semi a super black eagle. but they cost!!!

Oh yeah my son is already hunting with the gun mentioned above. almost had his chance this weekend . theres always next weekend.
