Kimber question
 

I saw this add in a local paper - "KIMBER RIFLE, caliber 7mm magnum, w/synthetic stock on Mauser action". Is this set-up true, I looked at the Kimber web-site and couldn't find info on the actions. Anybody have any experience with Kimber rifles (good/bad)? Thanks.

Kimber makes great firearms. I have one of their .45 pistols and love it. Had two others, but had to sell those.

What year rifle is it? It was my understanding that until this past year, they only made rifles in .22 lr caliber. And I think their initial (centerfire) rifle was loaded in standard varmint calibers like .22-250, and .308. I'm not sure what action they use, I'm don't think it's a Mauser though. I'd do some more research on that rifle before buying it. If it is a Kimber, they are famous for accuracy.

Call them. They'll tell you whether or not they made it. Especially if you can look at the rifle and get the serial number.

Is that in the pa papershop? .. If not I have seen another not sure on the caliber. I think it is a older gun before they made their own actions ..

I looked it up in the guntraders guide, It is not real clear but it says prior to 1986 they used a redesigned action that command a preimum from collectors .. Not sure that is what that is... I live in Marshalls Creek .. nice to see another local ..Bill

I have Kimber m98 sporterized mauser in 7mm rem mag. I believe I bought it in 1995. Kimber sporterized military mausers both 98's and 96's around that time frame....96 &98 mausers in 22-250, 6.5x55 308,270win/30-06, 7mm rem mag/300win and 338win mag.
My gun is a M98 zbrojovka brnoVZ-24 action with 25 inch blue fluted brl, in a black plastic stock (butler creek) I bought mine new in box for 299.00 on the brl it say's Kimber of America, Inc, Clackmas OR , M98 sporterized in USA.
My 7mm mag shoots real well, I added a timney trigger. Kimber did a nice job
sporterizing the mauser for the money.
