Default Recoil Pads - Aftermarket

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket recoil pads for rifles. I'm thinking Pachmyr, LimbSaver, etc.
What are your experiences with them both recoil reducing qualities and installation on your rifle? ?Thanks.

Out of the two I prefer the Pachmayr because it is the easiest to install and is as good as the Sims. The Pad is very hard to grind down smoothly and in fact they have a model just for that purpose. The Sims is too soft for my taste and that can be a problem when handling a gun...

I had a pachmayr installed not to long ago on my 1903 Springfield .30-06. The older pad dried up and got hard. The recoil feels significantly less I don't see how anyone could form one to a rifle they are so soft.

Comparison wise shooting the .06 with 180 grain remington compared to a .270 with 130 hot loads with no recoil pad.

The .270 feels as if it kicks harder but I am using hot loads through it.

I may have confused someone with that comment The Pad I was referring to is the Sims..the pachmayr decelerator is a breeze for any qualified gunsmith to install. The sims absorbs shock well but is a real pain to grind down to size

I have had excellent results with the Pachmeyr Decelerators. However, the pad does add significant length to the pull, especially if replacing pads like the Old English. If you plan on using the rifle in cold weather, make allowances for the clothing you will be wearing, you may have to cut down the stock to fit.

Good luck.
