I'm not sure how long these rifles have been out but a few months ago I purchased one in 45-70 which I was going to convert into a smokeless muzzleloader. This thing shot so good (under MOA) that I kept it as is. I then proceeded to get another and DID have it converted. This SML too shoots under MOA! Both models are SS with a muzzle brake which reduced felt recoil down to like a .243.
reloaders can get more out of the 45-70 over factory ammo but if I didn't reload I'd probably buy the same model in 35 Whelen and not look back. Also they come in smaller chamberings and with the brake and a single shot makes them ideal for kids.
