T/C Encore.270
Can NOT stop grinning. Decided I needed a new rifle. Had to be one that I wouldn't need a gunsmith to repair or rebarrel. Was thinking about a 110 series Savage, but wasn't set on it. Knew I would know the one when i saw it. Hit all my favorite spots, without success. Got to the Heritage Guild in Easton Pa, and there she was. A lightly used Rochester production Encore, blued/walnut in .270 WCF. Got her out the door for $500.
Mounted a Bausch&Lomb 1.5x6 to get acquainted. Not enough eye relief. One does NOT creep up on a scoped Encore...
Anyway. With factory loads, Remington and Hornady American White tail ( both 130 grains), she shoots about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 for 3 at 100. My first few reloads are generally under an inch. I haven't done any of the suggested mods, so these are bone stock results.
Replaced the B&L with a Leupold VX1 3x9. Much better eye relief...
I'm looking forward to getting more barrels/calibers for this one. Very fine rifle and I'm looking forward to wearing a lot of finish off her.

Congrats on the gun, I have three encore actions and several barrels. It is a great gun to shoot and carry. I seemed to have more success knowing I have but one shot than I did when I carried the auto loader.

I love that rifle. I have a 223, 30-06 and 375 HH barrel. Took the 223 out yote hunting last winter. I shot 4 yotes with 4 shots that were coming into the call. One was out to 300 yards. My buddy was asking what kind of rifle is that. Also used one in 270 Win for Texas hog.
Have fun.
