Mk -M-GOBL, The 454 would be a great choice. I dont know what you have shot with before, but the.454 does have a fair amount of recoil. However its pretty managealbe with some practice. As far as barrel lenght I would be happy with the 7.5 in barrel but thats just my personal preferance. For a scope mount which I use on my F/A and recommend is the SSk Tsob mount (3-4 rings) providing they make them for the Ruger. I would recommend a good scope such as a luepold or Nikon. Hope this helps..Jeff

As long as it is a Ruger you will not be sorry, I know from experience that it is the only brand of revolver on the market, and as far as barrel length just get the one you want, they will both shoot great.!!!!

I was reading about the Ruger 454 in Handloader or Rifle magazine. They say sometimes you can' t eject the brass with hotter loads even though they are safe loads. Anyone have any troubles with it?

I dont think its uncommon for the brass to be hard to eject. It happens with Freedom Arms revolvers just the same. A combination of expanded brass and spent powder on the case sides make em stick a little. But not a big deal.
