After over 40 years of big game hunting and with a safe full of other rifles, about 5 years ago I finally bought a .300 Weatherby Vanguard, which was made by Howa.
This rifle shoots sub-moa groups with a variety of different bullets. I've used it on hunts in Texas, Montana, South Africa, and New Zealand. Some might consider it an "entry level" rifle, but mine has become my favorite rifle, and I shoot it more than any of my other rifles. |
I'd rather the Vanguard action(Howa) over the MarkV action.

As someone that has both a mark V in 257 weatherby and howa/vanguard/Smith and wesson, the mark v action to me is smoother. And I believe is a better action then the howa. The howa is a good action but it is no Mark V.

Why? I understood that the Mark V action is stronger.
for the life I can understand WHY you need 6 locking lugs(9 on the mags). I just don't see where a markV's action in any stronger than a 700's action |
