Researching older guns.

I' ve a friend who has inherited some older shotguns and rifles and is interested in finding out more about them. What sources of information are available in print or on-line for researching older firearms?

RE: Researching older guns.

If they were made by a company that' s still in business, then the first step would be to contact them with the as much information as you have regarding the gun in question. Such as model #, caliber/gauge, serial #, etc... I wanted to know when the shotgun my Dad gave me was made, so I contacted Remington and they emailed me the info.

RE: Researching older guns.

I have an older 410 double barrel and I' m trying to find out the year and model of the gun. The only markings on the gun are EL FAISAN-Elgaibar made in Spain. If any body out there can help me out it would be much appreaciated.
