I used to shoot a lot of it in 30-30. It was cheap and the brass is reloadable. I never hunted with it just shot it up plinking. But I imagine there is no reason why it wouldn't be good for deer. Just about any decently made bullet will work for deer.

Bought a Savage 11 FCNS in 243 Win from a friend. Rifle was less than a month old with about 10 shots through it. He also through in 2 boxes of ammo, 1 was HSM 100 gr soft points (I believe Speer), shot MOA. Haven't used em again as I roll my own.
