12 guage slug choice
I just bought a winchester model 1300 with a 24" rifled barrel. I was just wondering if any of you have the same gun and what slugs worked best for you. I hunt mostly in the flat farmland in S.E. MN so we can have some pretty long shots. I was looking for something that could give me a descent group at 100 yds. I used to shoot a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel and the winchester patrition golds worked well. I am just curious if any of you could give me any ideas before i go and try a bunch of different brands, because as you probably know that can get expensive. Thanks in advance for any of your help.

I have the same gun with a 21" rifled slug barrel. The Lightfield 2 3/4" Sabot slugs shoot into a 1 1/2" -3" circle at 75 yards for me. Plenty accurate enough for deer hunting where most of the shots would be 75 yards and under!!

i have the same gun maybe a shorter barrel but every thing else is the same I use Brenneke M.P. s the work in both rifled and smooth bore barrels and at 75 yrs i got a nice group and about 4 inches low but i have firesights which the front sight is shorter than the stock one so you should be fine

Well, I' m a big Brenneke fan and have been pretty much exclusively faithful. They shoot very tight and consistently out of my 12 gauge H& R Ultra . I mostly use the 3" Gold Magnums. Loved the gun and the performance so we got one for one of my boys, " Hoss" . We got Hoss a 20 gauge.
Tried some different brands sighting it in to see if anything was that much better than the others. Didn' t have a chance to try any Brenneke however.
Happened upon a good quantity of Remington 2-3/4" Copper Solid Sabots, at, get this guys..........$5.00/box on clearance. Bought all they had. (And will be checking their other stores tommorow for any remaining stock. I' ll take it all!)
The Copper Solids shot excellently. Many holes touching at 75 and even at 100 yards, too.
The boy shoots it very well and I' m sure he' ll do fine in a few weeks when our shotgun season opens.
But, I am still curious how well the Brennekes will perform, I have confidence in them. Especially curious of the 3" Gold Mags.
Good luck.
