Can any of you help me ID a mauser broomhandle handgun? I believe it was made in 1932 and should be a model 1930. I found this info by checking the serial number on a website. I also think it' s a 7.65 or 7.63 mm. I' m curious what it' s worth, the only local gunshop said at least $600 but he has no idea. 98% of the blueing is still there but it does have some small nicks and scratches. I also don' t have the wooden holster/stock.

I' m no broomhandle expert, but if the blueing is 98% it sounds like a reblue. If origional blueing $600.00 would be a deal. For the average reblue it' s too high, or at least in my opinion.

Some of the 1930 models are listed at over $2000 for very good condition if they are original and not a reblue or a copy . You need to have the gun certified by an expert in mauser firearms and not your local gundealer . Not knocking your dealer but very few of them are experts in rare firearms .

I' ve called all the gun dealers within a 50 mile radius of my house. How do I find someone who knows these guns well?

There are appraisal services out there but I don' t have any first hand dealings with any of them . Try looking on the internet for firearm appraisals . Some charge and there are some that are free . I would be a bit hesitant to send my piece to someone I met on the Internet though . I have a friend that did send photos and got a guesstiment from a appraiser and it gave him an Idea of what his gun was worth . Then the appraiser offered to buy it for $1500 .
