Looking to trade a Beretta Px Storm subcompact 40 for a new Vaquero 45.
What's your thoughts? I have other Ruger single action revolvers. Mostly black hawks in 44 mag and 357. My only concern about the new Vaquero is that it is build on the smaller frame, so I assume you can not run hot, Ruger only loads through it. Am I right?

You might want to pose the question to the die hard Ruger cranks at the following site.

So here's a thought....
The Ruger New Model Vaquero could handle "Ruger Only" loads. The Ruger New Vaquero, introduced in 2005, cylinder isn't made thick enough to handle the so-called "Ruger Only" .45Colt loads. The .357mags are. Supposedly.
That said, the New Vaquero is able to handle as hot of loads as the Colt ever did, which can be pretty dang hot, just not the huge overpressure loads that the New Model Vaqueros could.
HOWEVER, even the older Ruger New Model Vaquero manuals stated that it voided the warranty if you fired handloads, or any non-SAAMI approved rounds (like the hot Buffalo Bore stuff).
For what it's worth, the .45colt is plenty of mustard to handle big game hunting.
