Default 257 weatherby mag

Anyone familiar with this cartridge......I recently acquired one and really love the way it shoots. I have always used my 30-06 for whitetails and never had any complaints. Just want to try something different. Any input appreciated.

It's a flat shootin' deer whackin' type of cartridge.

Default .257 Weatherby

My Dad has a Vanguard Sporter that I gave him as a gift. Had the barrel free-floated and the bedded. His rifle shoots honest 1/2" groups with the 120 gr. NPT as loaded by Weatherby. He's taken Whitetail, Feral Hogs, & Elk with this rifle. He used a .270 Win for years with 130 gr. NPT for everything and believes the .257 to be just as effective with the 120 gr. NPT but flatter shooting. His rifle with 24" barrel actually exceeds 3300 fps with the factory load. We've exceeded this speed with the 115 gr. Barnes TSX using RL25. You have a great rifle and I hope you enjoy it.

I have always wanted one...but been hard to find one in left handed. I recently bought a 25 WSSM as I love the 25 Cal...and it works like a charm on whitetails! Still looking for my 257 WBY.

You will love it for everything that walks. Wicked flat and hits real hard.

Roy Weatherbys favorite cartridge of his own creation was the .257! Essentially it's a 25/06 with a 250 shot of nitrous.

I think you'll love it,
HL

My brother has the Accumark? in .257Weatherby and loves it. Extremely accurate and has put down everything he has pointed it at. He has used everything from Sierra Game Kings to the Barnes bullets and they have all shot .5" or better. If I didn't already have a 25-06 I would own one as well.

This is my favorite Weatherby round. and for all the reasons above. Plus it doesn't knock your head off when you shoot it. Its flat shooting and hard hitting with tameable recoil.

I have a .257 Weatherby in synethetic and stainless in a Mark V. It is my second favorite CF behind my Cooper 25-06. I love the .25 cals. they do all and then a little more. Your velocity that you get out of the guns is unreal and they put the hammer down on animals. Flat and fast. I like to load Ballistic Tips in both but have been loading Bergers in the Cooper and it does a great job also. You will not be dissappointed with your new toy!!
