Sorry for the link mix up. Go to " www.chuckhawks.com" . After the page pops up, goto (guns and shooting information), then (product review page) and last (The Weatherby Vanguard Rifle). I hope this clears up the misunderstanding.

Even the weatherby site shows that the vanguard does not use the same action as the mark V.

Oh, is that what' s on that site? No, the Vanguard DOES NOT have a mark five action. The Mark V bolt has 5 locking lugs (hence the Mark V designation). The Vanguard/Howa has 2 if I remember correctly, maybe 3 (it' s been awhile since I took one apart) but definately doesn' t have 5.

The only difference between the Howa and the Weatherby Vanguard is the rear bolt shroud. Period. How do I know this? Because I took one of each apart and had them side by side.

AS I POSTED EARLIER,I HAD TRIGGER PULL PROBLEMS WITH MY VANGUARD 300 WBY MAG.WELL, I TOOK IT TO A GUNSMITH AND HE FOUND IT HAD OVER 9# TRIGGER PULL WITH DRAG.HE COULD NOT ADJUST IT BELOW 6# WITHOUT WORKING ON THE SEAR.AFTER TAKING IT OUT FILING AND POLISHING,MY PULL IS NOW 3.5#.HE WOULD NOT TAKE IT BELOW THIS FOR SAFETY REASONS.WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE!:)
