Ruger No 1

I am thinking about buying a Ruger No. 1 in a 416 Rigby with a Trijicon 1-4 dangerous game wide angle scope on it. How much you guys value this set up at? He is also going to throw in 80 rounds of ammo. The gun and scope are both in perfect condition, and the stock is beautiful and has really good wood grain.

Thanks

Kirk

Well the rifle alone around here would go for $850 - $950. Add in the scope and the ammo and if you could get it for $1200 or $1300 I'd say you got a good deal.

I am finding the scope for about $750 to $800. From the sounds of it he is wanting $1500 for everything.

I expect it's a 1-H (Tropical). Used, around here, they go for around $750-$850. I love #1's, but they are a nitche gun. I have a beautiful 1-S in .300 H&H Mag. The Trijicon's are very nice (I own one also), but a used scope usually gets the beat down. I'd put it's real value around $450. Thus, for the set-up, with ammo, I concur with Bronco's estimate above.

Great rifle...have always wanted one! I agree with Bronko and Bugs...$1200 - $1300 is probably a fair price...$1500 seems a little steep for me.

Sharp shooter--- I know this thread is a little old, but did you buy it or not? Had the chance to shoot a #1 in .416 Rigby out at the range one day. Very friendly type had it, we got to talking and he invited me to try it--I will admit, his reloads were a little less potent than the factory stuff, shot about like my #1 in 45-70 although I've heard with the factory ammo, you have your hands full. If you ever watch any of the African hunting videos, you'll notice a lot of #1's leaning up against the dead elephant--
Bill Ruger got this one very right--
