remington 750 semi auto
looking at a 750 in 308 carbine for a short range woods gun.thinking of topping it with a 2-7 scope.who has one and how do you like it?
Nope... but have a Short Trac BAR in .308 with a 3-9 X Trijicon Accupoint scope. It's a keeper.
also looking at bar shorttrac stalker in 308,but really wanted some first hand feedback on the remington 750.local gunshop has one marked way down and it sure shoulders good.
well I don't have the 750 but I do have a 7400. Friend has a 750 and it is a good shooter and reliable for an auto! My 7400 I got at a bargain. After I cleaned all the mud and gunk out of it it's been a very reliable gun! If It's that great of a bargain buy it. You can always sell it if your not satisfied and recoup your money.
If the seller will let you run a box of shells through it before the purchase, I'd do that. If it works as it should and seems to be accurate enough, go for it. As for the scope, I don't know what you mean by "short range", but I really like a peep sight in the woods. Something to think about.

got my remington 750 today.i ended up getting a 30 06 carbine with the wood stocks.it may be a while before i get to shoot it,but i will post results, good or bad.
I had a Mod. 7400 carbine in 30.06 Spr. that I bought used. In a state of confusion, I guess, two years ago I sold it for what seemed then to be a decent enough profit. Frankly, I did not use it much. This particular rifle shot great groups and with proper cleaning, cycled just fine. I maybe put 150 rounds through it before selling. Never had a minute's trouble. The carbine length was great for hunting from a tree stand. I regret having sold it. Mine happened to "like" Federal Premium that had been loaded using the 180 gr. Nosler Partition bullet.

I have the 750 WM in 30-06... Shoots great... will hold right around 1" groups with a just about everything i put threw it... I shot a 4pt a few years ago with it at a little over 200 yards with a 220 gr remington round nose bullet... Took out both shoulders and deer did a face plant and pushed him self about 20 yards with his back legs...
I love mine!!! Looks good and shoots good... Pretty much what you would expect from REMINGTON!!! |
I just sighted in my .243 woodsmaster. .75" groups. This is the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. Granted, I sight in at the indoor 25 yard range, haven't gotten to the 100 yd range yet. But this rifle holds a nice group.
I credit it to the 1 piece DMZ mount, with a VX6 scope. The .243 recoil with the semi auto is perfect. The action is still very stiff; I suspect a 100 rounds it will loosen up. My BAR will sit in the safe, as I hate the attached magazine. |
25 yards really doesn't give you a good idea... .75 at a hundred yards now that my be something to brag about...
Hows the trigger on the 750' the rem 742/740s I have handled have tradable triggers take to hands to pull triger. Both have been in 6mm. One was my dad's uncle's and one was my cousins. My uncle's had a 4x leupold and, my cousin has a 4-12 leupold.
Just unloaded mine for a rem sps tatical in 308... Can't wait to shoot it
I did go to the 100 yard and 200 yard range, before opening day. groups less than 1". I just took a spike buck at 100 yards. perfect double lung shot. exit wound 3". Bang flop. .243

I've got one, and I am very happy with it. I did some research on it, though, before I bought it and I am glad that I did.
First off, it didn't cycle worth anything until I shot about 60 rounds through it. After that, though, it's been unstoppable. Second, KEEP THE CHAMBER CLEAN. I have been able to get it to group at least as well as my bolt rifles. If you break it in, and keep the chamber clean, it will be the best deer rifle you've ever owned. |
